I worked on a school project in 2010 with the help of Dr. Barer-Stein. I was inspired by her book, You Eat What You Are, and got in touch with her over email. She was wonderfully kind and supportive although we never met, other than exchanging emails to discuss my report. Her work was thoughtful and inspiring to me even as a high school student. I am saddened to hear of her passing and would like to send my deepest condolences to her family.

I am saddened to read of your mother´s passing away. I have kept in my hope chest a copy of her You Eat What You Are very big book written in 1979 - reprinted in 1981. This book means so much to me as I sit here with my eyes filling with tears of sadness, empowerment & joy . The cover on the book is of a human man made of vegetables. I am 62 years old and reading this book in college will forever stick in my brain of how important eating healthy & eating ethic foods are to me. I have...
