Ted was a first class person with a big heart and a great sense of humor. He cared about people and was like family to my parents. We need more people like Ted Nickens in this world. He made it a better place. We will miss him but never forget him.

Ted was an important person to the Koplan family and he will be missed by all of us. He was very special.

Ted was a dear friend to my parents and a wonderful presence in our lives. I feel lucky to have been exposed to such a special person.

I met Ted through my father. Together they coached my little league basketball team when I was in elementary school. I have many fond memories (as well as some Jerry Garcia ties that I still wear) and my family will miss him dearly.

Coach Nickens added a touch of class to the struggling Varisty Football Team at Blake High School in Silver Spring, MD. My son, Parker Steveson, played on that team and was always inspired by his uplifting words of encouragement. Coach Nickens always seemed to know when the kids needed his kindness the most. I was fortunate to have a close relationship with the team (I fed them before every Friday night game) and got to know Coach Nickens as a gentleman of compassion and intelligence. His...

You are in my prayers daily.

Words can not express the way I feel for the lost of my dear friend Ted as well as a co worker. The love he shown for the students in the class and how we work together. I will miss the laugher that we had along with the jokes. I will always keep you the family in my thought and prayer. may God contiune to Bless each and everyone of you.

It was an honor to care for Mr Nickens. He was a courageous man of great integrity and inner strength. One of his many legacies, was the tremendous love from his wife and family. He will be suelry missed.

I knew Ted at the U.S. Department of Justice's Civil Rights Division where I worked for nearly 35 years. Ted was one of the great people who worked at the Civil Rights Division. He was an upbeat realist, which is not easy, especially under trying conditions. Knowing him was a privilege.
