Dr. Collins always tried to sound like a preacher in his class as he was wrapping up class. I loved to imitate him walking into class saying, "How y'all doing class?" and the class would straighten up. Then when they noticed that I was impersonating his voice, they were like, Awww man! I also did work study for him. He and I talked about the Scriptures and our faith in God. He used to say to his students, "If you can't help me, don't what? Hinder meeeeee!" Legendary! I remember the first time I had a class taught by this man. Dr. Thomas Collins taught with pride and meaningful purpose. Great teacher and such a charismatic man. His presence was inspiring and left inspirational foot prints that inspired me teach as well. Each year I would find myself telling my students about Dr. Thomas Collins and the reason why they should be Mathematicians.

Dr. Collins was one of my most enjoyable professors ever! He was a great teacher who left a lasting impact on many. RIP Dr. Collins

I only had the privileged of meeting Dr. Collins once in my life. He was a joy to meet and I feel privileged to have had him pass through my life. My prayers are with your family in this time of sorrow.
