Not sure what to say?

Dear Sam, Our deepest condolences. It was always a pleasure visiting with you and Tom over the years. Warm greetings from Sharon and Werner Wichmann

Love and prayers to Sam and all of Tom´s family on the loss of Tom. Some of my fondest memories were the moments spent with Tom, Sam and our mutual friend Nancy. I loved the quiet times with Tom because of his boundless knowledge on any subject and his kind patience during our profound discussions. Even more important, Tom had a sincere gift of listening with his heart and being so personable, helpful, and caring. I am so grateful for the wonderful memories I have of this great friend.

Just as my sister Susan said, Uncle Tommy was also my favorite uncle. My mom used to send me to Tommy and Hermeine's house every summer after school got out to visit, when they lived in Chapel Hill, Asheville, and even in Knoxville. I grew up loving college football, but at 13 years old the only college football I knew and thought was big time football was The Citadel here in Charleston, SC. Uncle Tommy was my favorite uncle. He taught me humility and understanding. He also in reduced me to opera when I was 10 and I´ve loved that ever since as well as I loved him he will always be in my heart. Love you always your niece Susan.

I have fond memories of the months spent with Uncle Tommy and my cousins in Friendsville Tennessee in 1971. My condolences to my cousins and all the family.

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Dr. Curtis, in news shared by my friend and classmate in his classes, Mark Malaspina. Dr. Curtis was one of the handful of teachers who really changed my life. As I hope he understood, he was one of my first examples of what a life devoted to scholarship could be, and of how much joy and satisfaction such a life could bring. He was also a beacon of reason and good sense in a time where that was not always in evidence. His ability to maintain high...

Last saw him 50 or so years ago however I don't believe that a week has ever passed since then that I haven't thought of something he did, said, or reacted to! Thanks Doc!

I am so grateful to have known Dr. Curtis. He was truly one of a kind, exemplifying a combination of erudition, wisdom, empathy, and joy. I can remember his laugh as if it were yesterday. Sending much love to Sandra, Jeff, and the rest of his family.

One more pic of Tom and family.
