Tom Lally was one of the finest people and most effective teachers I have ever known. I met him at the Roosevelt School in Roxbury. I was a young teacher like the other newly hired folks. Tom was the exception; he was older, wiser and had a wealth of experience about life. He told interesting stories, was fun to be around, and greatly added to the morale among the faculty and students who all loved him. He always expressed great love and appreciation for his family and his neighborhood....

Mr. Lally will always be remembered as an honorable and dedicated teacher and human being. I met him during my early years of teaching in the Boston Public Schools, and when I became a middle school Principal, he and his team of students from McKinley Tech came to the Curley Middle School in Jamaica Plain to begin restoration of the school's auditorium.
