Thomas Mannle Obituary

Mannle, Sr., Thomas E.

Thomas E. Mannle, Sr., 92, of Gloucester MA, formerly of Greenwich, CT. and Pelham Manor, N.Y., passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 11, 2012 surrounded by his family. He was born June 26, 1919 to Robert A. and Mary T. (Brady) Mannle and was raised as one of seven children in Greenwich, CT. He graduated from Greenwich High School (1936) and enlisted in the armed services in May, 1942. He served in the Army Air Corp as a B-25 Crew Chief and Aerial Engineer. He spent 3 years in the Mediterranean Theater of Operations. Upon his return in 1945, Tom began his business career, first working for Fawcett Publications, and later in computer sales for RCA. He entered the brokerage and security operations business in New York, as Vice-President of JH Kirvin and Associates. Later, he started Thomas Mannle and Associates (TMA) and then became President of Mannle-Nolan Inc., a firm he started with his partner, Jerry Nolan. Mannle-Nolan was sold in 1987 and Tom retired a few years later. His business took him all over the world and he made lasting friendships along the way.

On April 24, 1948, he married the love of his life, Elizabeth ("Betty") Daley. Tom and Betty moved to Pelham in 1955 and raised 7 children. They returned to Greenwich in 1994. They spent wonderful summers in Gloucester, at their home on Wingaersheek Beach and moved there permanently last August.

Tom is survived by his wife, Betty and his seven children: Tom Jr (Ann) of Gloucester, MA, Robert of Santa Fe, NM, William (Maggy) of Branford, CT, Susan Kelly (Richard) of Walkersville, MD, Paul (Lori) of Portsmouth, NH, Sara Rosetti (John) of Beverly, MA, Mimi Humphrey (Scott) of Pelham, NY; 17 grandchildren, Ryan and Kate Mannle, Tim, Brendan, Maura, Devlin, William and Isabel Mannle, Claire Mannle, Erin and Alex Mannle, Hannah and Christopher Rosetti, Elizabeth, Caroline, Quinn and Shea Humphrey, and 1 great grandchild, Stafford Mannle. Tom is also remembered and will be fondly missed by his many nieces and nephews, cousins, in-laws and out-laws, friends, neighbors, and colleagues.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Friday, March 16, 2012 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 178 Greenwich Avenue, Greenwich, CT. Burial will immediately follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2012 from 4pm-8pm at Leo P. Gallagher and Sons Funeral Home, 31 Arch St., Greenwich, CT.
