Tom was my mentor. Working under him at PHH gave me a true perspective of the business world. Basically, I idolized his intelligence to the point of taking up his writing style. I owe my success to being mentored by T. Wherrett Miller and observing his inate ability to see through bull---- and get to the facts of the matter. I just saw the news of Tom's passing in the Loyola High School alumni magazine. Many of that class are gone, including Terry Coles and Frank Serio.But our classmate Charles O. Wood survives as teh host of CBS Sundy Morning program as Charles Osgood.=--Jack McGrain

Dear Ellen, Vahey, Mollie, Sara, and Meg,

Words can never describe the loss created by the absence of a loved one. I miss Tom already. I know that all of you miss him dearly.

Pat, I don’t know if you ever heard this story or not but it’s one of my favorite Tom stories and it comes from the beginning of our relationship. I remember my first trip to Chestertown. I had taken the occasion to propose to Ellen, on the steps of the Lincoln memorial in DC....
