Not sure what to say?

We are very sad to hear of Father Shutters passing. He was a very good man and a great example of Christian values.

Father Shutter married us at St. Luke's in 1995. He baptized both of our children. Even though we moved away several years ago, we made a point of attending mass at St. Luke's in hopes of seeing Father Shutter. He always remebered us and our wedding day. He was a very special priest and friend who will be greatly missed.

Fr. Schutter said my wedding Mass in 1973 while an associate at St, Joe's in Downers Grove. He was a compassionate yet knowlegable priest. He will be missed.

Fr. Schutter and Sr. Barbara were there for me in a time of great need. I will always treasure them both. and was very saddened to learn of Fr. Schutter's death. I know he lives with God now and is swimming in the waters of everlasting life.

We were very saddened to hear about Father Schutter. He was a special priest, he baptized 2 of our boys and helped our family through some very hard times. He taught us that church is family. "WE ARE ST BERNARD'S...TOGETHER WE ARE CHURCH". As he said it. He will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with Sister Barbara she will be lost without him, they were truly a team. RIP Father Tom you will be missed.

When we moved to the Carol Stream area we were in search of a Catholic church. After meeting with several churches in the area we came across St. Luke. We meet with Father Schutter and Sister Barbara and knew that we had found our church. Father Schutter made us feel so welcomed and happy to be part of the St. Luke family. We moved to West Chicago about nine years ago and continue to come to St. Luke because like Father Schutter would say “once you come to St. Luke you won’t want to...

Family, Sr. Barb, other friends and parishoners of Fr. Tom:

Please accept my condolences at the death of Fr. Tom. He was truly a good man and a fine priest. He will be missed.

I remembered Fr. Tom at Mass today and he, and all of you, will continue to be remembered in my prayer.

Fr. Tony Dosen, C.M.

We are truly sorry to hear of Father Tom Schutter's passing. He was a credit to his Catholic faith and we enjoyed his many contributions to St. Bernard's parish. He will be missed by all that had the opportunity to come to know him.

Father Schutter and Sister Barbara, My son's First Communion

Back in the Summer of 1977 I heard a knock on my door. When I answered the door there was a priest on my door step, and he asked me if he could bless my house and told us about the new parish he was starting. At the time I was 8 months pregnant, so he blessed my baby and myself too. From that time on I became a parishioner at St. Bernard's. I know its exactly 33 years ago, as that is the age of my son. I can still see the enthusiastic look on Fathers Schutter's face that day 33 years...
