Not sure what to say?

What success I might have had in the advertising industry would, in a large part, be due to Tom's influence and friendship.

To the Shortlidge Family. Rolf Normann just called with the news of Tom's passing. We were colleagues and business partners in Chicago at Young & Rubicam and Hackenberg, Normann, Krivkovich & Partners. I'm recalling many amazing years of working with Tom, the most talented creative director-writer-art director-TV director-and all around good person in my experience. He will be remembered for his thoughtful aesthetic and his humanity. Sending my sympathy and heartfelt condolences, RB...

Carol Our sincerest condolences on the passing of Tom.

I worked at Y&R and remember the day the agency was called into the conference room. Y&R had managed to hire a whole creative team from another agency and Tom was among them. Seems like yesterday. Tom always had a smile and an easy way about him. Those were the great days of advertising.

Chelsea, so sorry for your loss. I hope happy memories of your dad will help you during this time. Hugs and Love, my Friend!

My cousin Tom was a very special man, building a career and life surrounded with beauty. Though many miles seperated us most of our lives, our Norwegian heritage and family traits are strong reminders of our what we both inherited from our mothers and grandparents. May he rest in peace.

I was a very minor player in Tom´s life, working with him in my 20´s at Y&R in the mid-1980s for just a couple of years. I remember sitting in Tom´s office watching him lay out C&B catalogs. His style was minimal and elegant while mine was English Arts & Crafts, but it was impossible not to admire the beauty in everything he did. And when I tried my hand at drawing (encouraged by our colleague, Mike Eakin) he was so complimentary. A compliment from him was one to treasure. My drawing is...

Carole and Family, we are so happy we got to meet Tom but now so sad that he is gone. Peace forever.

When I first came to Chicago from London in 1979 Tom took me under his wing, introducing me to people in the Chicago Advertising community and helping me to get my art direction career underway. It made a huge difference to me and I will be forever grateful.
