Thomas J Stanton, the beloved husband of Dorthea Pilgram Stanton( deceased) and loving father of Jacqueline Chase (Mary Patricia), Mary Beth Willats, Mary Kathleen Wayman, Mary Lynn Stanton, Robert Stanton, Thomas Stanton, Mary Margaret Vigna, and John Stanton passed on to his eternal reward on September 5, 2021. He was in his home with his family by his side. Thomas (Tom) was a wonderful husband to his wife Dorthea (Dee) for 68 years before she preceded him in death in 2020. Tom was the proud grandfather of 18 children and the proud Great grandfather of 10 children. Tom was the youngest son of Robert F Stanton and Anna Weinbrenner Stanton. His brothers Robert Stanton and John "Jack" Charles Stanton preceded him in death. Tom was a graduate of McBride High School class of 1945 and immediately enlisted in the United States Navy with the wish to become a Pilot. However, prior to beginning flight school, World War II ended and he was Honorably Discharged. He attended Washington University and obtained a Bachelors of Fine Arts in 1952. After graduation, he married the love of his life and began their lives together. Tom, an avid lover of Art and Architecture parlayed his creative skills into an Advertising and Marketing Career with CBS Television, KMOX Television, Creative Consultants, Donnelly & Stanton. After a brief stint in the premium business, Tom became the Vice-President and COO of Pizza Hut, St. Louis. After a successful tour with Pizza Hut, Tom closed out his career with the Psychological Associates and his company Feedback Inc. Tom was an active community member offering skills sets to many organizations. He was an active Board member for the University Club for seven years and was known to have a pretty mean squash game. Tom loved helping promote local organizations. He aided Visitation Academy in marketing its excellent Education that five of his daughters attended. He assisted with "Meals on Wheels" and was a dedicated health care assistant to Unity Health Hospice. He was a founding family of St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church and was the Senior Administrator of the local chapter of St. Vincent DePaul Society. Tom was an avid tennis player, playing well into his eighties. His love of Art, Literature and the Outdoors will be fondly remembered. Tom will be truly missed by all his family and friends.
Services: Service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 11,2021 at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, Ellisville, MO 63011. Visitation will precede the service from 10:00-11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, 5239 W Florissant Ave, St. Louis, MO 63115. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mercy Hospice or Saint Vincent Depaul Society.
