Not sure what to say?

As a wildlife biologist with the Bureau of Land Management in Utah through the 1970's, i listened to Tom at several wildlife functions where he had been invited to address wildlife interactions with public expansion. It was always a pleasure!

I met Tom when he wrote a story about my work as the architectural historian for UDOT. My email signature caught his eye when I responded to one of his articles about local hamburger joints and I told him about the best piece of pie I ever had (Dell's Calf-A in Dell, Montana--pop. 35). Our interview was the most wonderful conversation, during which we not only talked about my work at UDOT but also discussed growing up in SLC, our Catholic faith, and his first wife Gayen's involvement on the...

Oh Tom, I spent many many weekends babysitting Emma and the twins, and loved every minute of my time with you, Gaylen, and the kids. Then you took me under your wing and got me hired by the Tribune as the second girl to be a copy clerk, or "BOY!" (as the editors would yell out when they needed new copy to edit). Tom was a great journalist and an even better soul. Loved his work at the Trib for all his years there, and had wonderful discussions with him online afterward. He will be greatly missed. Condolences and peaceful wishes to his family.

Tom was a talented writer, a great conversationalist, but most of all a genuinely nice guy. I always will remember playing basketball, golf and tennis with Tom in our teens and our lunches in our 20's . Condolences to his family and many friends that will miss him. Congratulations to him on a life well lived. RIP Tom.

Tom was one of the best sports journalists to work with! I admired his dedication to high school sports. He was easy to talk with after games and wrote a lot of great articles. My condolences to his family. What a legend!

Always tough to hear of another member of the class of 69 graduating to eternity. He definitely honored the Grand ol G

Tom ventured into broadcast journalism when we were assigned to interview people as they arrived to watch the musical at Granite High School. As always he was articulate, eloquent and funny. He will be missed by all. Condolences to his family and friends.

I spent a lot of time with Tom during our childhood and our teens. I remember playing basketball at the Catholic church with Tom. He was a great friend and I treasure those memories. I was so sorry to hear of his passing. My wife and I send our sincere sympathies to his family. Jay and Vickie Smith
