Timothy Allen Lutz

I forgot to add one other thing. Mr. Lutz played in the Alexandria Symphony, and one time he said to me "If you want to hear a good piece played by a not-so-good orchestra, come to the concert Sunday afternoon." The piece was Franz Liszt's "Faust Symphony" which became a favorite of mine. And I didn't think the orchestra was bad at all.

In high school, about 1973 I played trombone in the pit orchestra for the school musical that year, "Cabaret." Mr. Lutz conducted the pit orchestra, and the show was ambitious for a high school to say the least, but he pulled us all together and we did okay. I remember at one performance, the cast gestured to the orchestra pit for us to stand, but we had all agreed to stay seated and let Mr. Lutz take all the applause, which he deserved. A good man, and it seems that he had a good life.
