A fluke set of circumstances has just made me aware that Tom passed away more than a year ago. We had not been in contact with each other for the past 40 years. However, a girl does not ever forget her "first date".
I have thought of Tom often throughout the years, and hold many fond memories of our shared school days.
I am saddened to hear of Tom's death, but to all who loved him, he will remain in our hearts forever.
My sincere condolence to his family. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers.

I was very fortunate to have known Tom, I worked for him for several years. In those years, Tom was a great person but most importantly he was a great friend, he touched so many people. He was one of the most kindest people I have ever known. I was in shock when I heard he had passed, I couldn't believe it. I will miss him and I was privileged to have had him as one of my dearest friends. We are gonna miss you Tom.

I called Sterling House in Great Bend to inquire about my first cousin Helen Mae Tomberlin. They told me she had passed away about a month ago. (My father, Leo Piller, was a brother of Mayme Berscheidt. Helen Mae used to put flowers on my parents graves in Great Bend each memorial day.) I then searched for Tom who Helen Mae thought the world of only to find out he too had passed away. I'm sorry I never had the chance to meet him. He certainly sounded like an outstanding man. I will always remember Tom not for what he did for me but for what I witnessed first hand what he did for others. Tom would always go out of his way to help someone in need. Like many have said here and so true, I would not be the person I am today without the influence and guidance that Tom gave so freely and willingly. He truly loved his family. So sorry to hear of Tom's death. I remember happy times with our families being together in Great Bend many years ago. Our dads were both pilots and enjoyed flying and had many trips together. I know he will be missed and our thoughts go out to the family.

Tom Berscheidt was one of the most influential men in my life. He was more than a friend, he was family. I have always referred to him as Uncle Tom. I have known him since birth, and in those short 18 years I have learned a lot from him. I would not be the young man I am today without the influence Tom has had on my life. He was a great mentor, a man that I could always count on. He never hesitated to help me when I was in need, that was his nature, he would help anyone in need. He truly was a great man. He will be remembered, never forgotten, because how could we forget a man like Tom?
My thoughts and prayers go out to Tim, Jim, and Jane and all of their children. I know Tom is with our Lord now and you have a guardian angel looking out for you.
Tom will be missed by all, but he is not gone, he lives on through our actions and our love. Let us show the world what he has taught us.

Our thoughts and prayers have been with all of you who are friends of Tom. Our friends Emil and Dorothy Jost took us one evening to Tom's home for dinner with the "Sunday Group". We enjoyed Tom's hospitatlity and the sharing of his friends. Our prayers are with the family of Tom also...we know he will be missed by so many people. Tom was an inspiration to me- like a second father. We first met in 1994 when I was driving for a limo company in Dallas. Knowing that I was a new pilot and a big fan of aviation, He started me part-time with his company which led to full-time. He trusted me with everything from co-piloting his airplanes to sitting by his side in meetings. He was the kindest person I have ever known and a loyal friend. He was truly a gift from God. There are so many memories I have with him that I could write a book. I know that I speak for so many when I say he will be missed. His legacy lives on! Blessings to all of Tom's family.

Tom, You are the one that God chose to be my father and you are and always will be my dad. You have made me feel what it is like to have a real father that loves you. You are my childrens God father and Byron's everything! You are and always will be a huge part of our life and no you will be our angel .....I know you will always be looking after us. Our thoughts and prayers are with Tom's family and friends. Tom, through his involvement with Holy Angels Youth Organization, taught many teens about responsibility and the value of hard work. My two oldest children, Danya and Justin (The Youngest, Lindsay did not get the privilege of having Tom and Mary Sue)are the great adults that they are because of Tom's and Mary Sue's work with them. For that I am so very thankful! Tom, may God wrap his comforting arms around you and give you a big hug and say, "Job well done!"

(Tom Berscheidt family & friends) We cannot tell you how sorry we were to hear of Tom’s illness and passing. We were honored to know Tom & recognized that he had a supportive loving family and close friends. It was Tom’s time to leave us, something we all must meet one day. Although not married, Tom reflected qualities of a loving and caring father; examples that we all need from a father. What stood out the most, were the wonderful things we heard about Tom, his commitment to youth, and his devotion to God. By example, Tom was a framework of what a father should be like; now he will be sharing in the glory of his Father. The relationship you had with Tom reflected the strong bond and love you all shared. We know Tom will be missed, but always remembered by those he loved and knew. With our own loss, it has been our faith in God that has helped us. There will be many days of grieving. Special occasions and holidays, they all have some emptiness in them. But, we also feel blessed. Like everything else good, our loved ones are a gift from God to us. Knowing that Tom has moved to another level of life with no further suffering is reassuring. As Christian's, we have hope and faith that when we die, we go on living. So, with confidence, despite your loss, we know you will be able to go on living and enjoying life’s many gifts during this difficult time. If you have any family members or friends that struggle with the idea of eternal life, we will be glad to talk to them about it. Again, our thoughts and prayers are with you all. No one has influenced my professional life more than Tom. He helped me mature in my business, and taught me so much in the 30 years of our association. But the measure of this man is found in the way he helped my family on a personal level. He flew my dad and Jane home from Austin following his stroke when he wouldn't have survived the three hour drive in the car. He sent Rick to pick my family up when my mother died in Rockford, IL just before Christmas when I could not get even one seat on American Airlines. Tom put us on the ground in Rockford before my brother could drive there from Chicago. I can't tell you how much I'm going to miss him.

I will never forget what Tom did for me. As a youth at Holy Angels Church, he mentored me and helped me through my adolescence. Tom referred me to A&P school and encouraged me along the way. He helped me gain an interest in a career that I still enjoy to this day. I will miss him.

This is Tom to the core...he was a man that led by his walk and his talk! He was the light of Christ to so many and we celebrate his life and will miss him dearly. Tom became a dear friend to us in 1995 when I purchased his favorite airplane, namely an MU2. I got the chance to spend many hours with him over the years and found him to be an outstanding advocate for the MU2 family. He was a joy to be around and we looked forward to Tom's get together's at all of the aviation functions. We will miss him terribly.

So sad to hear this news of Tom's passing. I have so many fond memories with him, Mary Sue, John and Carolyn. Tom played a major role in many of our lives. Just sad that I lost contact with him. He will truly be missed. While he had no children of his own , he mad many children he took under his wing and had great influence in their lives. I drove Tom for many years when he came to Las Vegas, and I was very saddened to hear the news. Tom was more than a client, he was a friend. He always lived life to it's fullest, and he was a very kind and generous man. I never saw him in a bad mood. He will always be remembered, never forgotten. I will miss his humor, smile, and of course his plaid shirts. If I couldn't pick Tom up from the airport, I could tell the driver what Tom would be wearing, and I'd be right every time. :) I'll miss taking him to church, as he was the only client I've had in over 16 years of driving that I've ever taken to church regularly on Saturday or Sunday. Godspeed my friend, you will be greatly missed.
