Tom Korich, 79, passed away on December 11, 2023, due to complications from surgery. He fought like hell, but ultimately passed after a long battle in the hospital.
"Tommy" was born on December 28, 1943, to John Sr. and Audrey Korich in Hibbing, Minn., as the first of six children.
After working in the mines on the Iron Range for over 25 years, he went back to school at age 46 to study Social Work at St. Scholastica in Duluth. After graduating, he moved down to the Twin Cities for a job in his new field, and quickly met his wife Charlene at the nurses' station at Woodbury Care Center where they both worked. Their first date was the company Christmas Party and the following Christmas they were engaged and expecting.
He is survived by his wife, Charlene; daughters, Gail and Adrianna (Jake); siblings: Laureen (Henry), Micky, Terry and David; uncle, Loren; grandkids: Andrew (Devon), Jaclyn, Tyler and Danielle; stepchildren, Michael (Angie), Billie Jo, and Timothy; great-grandchildren Arabella and Harlow, and beyond.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Audrey and John; sister, Nancy; first wife, Ruth; and beloved daughter, Wawnea.
A true Minnesotan, and the BEST man we know. He will be forever loved and missed.
A public Celebration of Life will be held on Tom's 80th Birthday, December 28, at the Sundance Clubhouse in Woodbury from 4-9 p.m. open house. Toast and memory sharing at 6 p.m. Everyone who loves Tom and the Korichs are encouraged to attend. 355 Karen Ln, Woodbury, MN 55129.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Iron Range Research Center within the Minnesota Discovery Center in Chisholm, a cause very close to our papa's heart.

Always a shock; followed by gratitude for having worked with and known, a wee bit, someone whom I both admired and enjoyed for the several years working with Minneapolis High-Rise Senior Services. Loved his perspective!
