Family-Placed Death Notice

Thomas Alexander Burnett, age 19, of Roswell died Sunday, June 25, 2006. Tommy was a graduate of Roswell High School and ran track for Kennesaw State University. He was the loving son of Robyn and David Burnett. Tommy had a wonderful zest for life and a great love for his grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and his many friends. He will always be remembered by all who knew him as one with a kind heart, exceptional wit and a great sense of humor. Tommy is survived by his parents, along with his grandmother, Trudy Burnett of Clermont, Florida, and grandparents Tom and Stella Skole of Roswell. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Al Burnett. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 28 at Roswell Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 29 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to support the Kennesaw State University Track Program, Mail box 0201, 1000 Chastain Road, Kennesaw, GA 30144. 770-423-6668. I got back from my cruise to find funny messages from you in my inbox! Then to discover you were gone. . . this is by far the worst news. You were just here I was talking to you the night before I left with you assuring me that my obligated time with my family would be worth it and that I needed to make the best of it. Thank you. You really have opened my eyes of how short life can be and that I need to make the best of it. You will be truely missed. You have made such an impact in my life; I truely hold you responsible for me having such success when I had to change schools in the middle of our junior year. You spent many days with me before school let back in. Those were fun times riding in your new car and you bailing me out of situations on New Years that year. I remember Tommy as the guy I saw in the halls, always giving high fives to the guys and big hugs to the girls. You could just see in his eyes that he was such a genuine and kind person. Coach Burnett & Robyn...I can remember Senior Night when the cheerleaders (our daughter, Kacie) & football players went on the field and how proud you were of Tommy! I remember Tommy's last game at RHS as a senior and Coach Burnett crying, knowing his son was growing up, going on to College. I remember being struck at how much love I saw as you both looked at Tommy. I truly cannot believe he's gone. God must have really needed him to take him so early in his life. May you find strength in knowing he is with the Lord and knowing you will all be together one day. Our hearts are so broken over Tommy's death and we grieve with you. We have been on the phone with our son, Ben, several times a day comforting him while he is in Fla. Every time we speak with him he sounds like he has been crying. He is so heartbroken over losing a great friend.

Tommy introduced himself to us at the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship and we immediately could see that he is a very special person. I say "is" because Tommy will always be alive in our hearts and in heaven...where we will see him again. We will always remember Tommy as a great athlete, student, and friend to all. We have such great memories of watching the boys go through Roswell North, Crabapple Middle School and Roswell High School. Robyn and Mr. Burnett, I do not have the words to express my sadness for your loss. I was one of Tommy's teachers at Roswell North Elem. and always thought of him as one of the sweetest children that I had ever met. You did a wonderful job with raising him. He loved you both dearly and your love for him was evident as well. My continued prayers are with you.

Robyn and David, my deepest sympathy goes to you. I remember Tommy in second grade, I was his assistant with Stephanie Dennis....such a good student. Always, kind and respectful. I watched him grow into a nice young man.
