I am sorry to learn about Mr. Brasfield. I have a lot of fond memories of him and his family during my younger years. I always appreciated so much the Christmas morning Travis took the time to bring my Christmas gift - a horse to our home and saddle him up and wait while I rode that morning. I remember riding that horse on the golf course at Holston Hills as it started spitting snow. It was one of the most memorable Christmas mornings ever. Thank you! I am sendings prayers to the family for peace and comfort at this difficult time.

Aunt Sylvia, Travis G. Freddie and Jim, I too ask the question, Where does one start?, in trying to sum up a lifetime of having the pleasure of being with your whole family. Uncle Trav was very special in so many ways and those who knew him would agree. We always felt a special welcome when we visited with our children down through the years. Everything from making homemade ice cream to Uncle Trav letting the kids ride on old Cotton. That built memories for them and all of us that time cannot erase. The many trips we took together to Durham, N.C. our rides to the Smokies and getting to eat out together. Uncle Trav was so full of optimisim that it just gave you a lift when you were around him. We did have the priviledge of telling him how much of an inspiration he was to all of us. Over the 57 plus years our families shared together one just can't sum it up very easily. Due to health reasons we could not be there at this time but we are glad to know in our hearts that he is at rest and reunited with other family members. Uncle you always shared with others in earthly goods and may you rest in peace until we all meet in Heaven.
Love from the bottom of our hearts,
Ken, Ruth, Debbie, Sherry and Randy

Dearest Aunt Sylvia, Travis G., Freddie, and Jimmy, I can't tell you
how much I will miss Uncle Trav. He was there for me several times when I felt there was no where to turn. I understand how difficult it's going to be for all of you, having lost my Dad this year. My solace is knowing that he's in a beautiful place and that brothers who shared so much of life together are reunited. I love you all so much. I pray that God wrap his arms around you and give you comfort. Love, your cousin Becky

Grief, like the ocean, comes in waves only to recede and come yet again. But with it comes healing, memories wash ashore and are bathed by the golden sun. Grab hold of those memories and let them fill the emptiness. Mr. Brasfield, the honor is mine to have met you. Debra Rose Zmolek Baird, Knoxville, TN

My sympathy to all of the Brasfields. Travis was a wonderful person showing & teaching respect to all. He was always willing to share a thought or an opinion, or an experience if he thought it would improve your life, your business, or just to make you feel good in whatever situation you might find yourself in. In all my years of friendship with Travis & each of the family, I always felt like one of the family. May God bless each of you in this difficult time.

Where does one even begin to describe Uncle Trav? His great sense of humor was always standing by to bring levity to the weary soul in the midst of discouragement. In the more serious moments, he knew how to share his wisdom with others; but he never lost touch with that playful child within, and enjoyed sharing funny stories with those gathered around. He loved to show hospitality. He loved people and looked for the good in them. Focusing on the positive, he always saw the glass as being “half full instead of half empty.” These attributes combined with faith in his Creator carried him through the challenges that lay ahead when the going got tough, and produced a beautiful example of patience and kindness to be envied. He leaves, behind, an awesome legacy of love and goodwill never to be forgotten by those who knew him best. Thank you, Uncle Travis, for your contributions to my life. They are too numerous to count. I send condolences to Aunt Sylvia, Travis Jr, Freddie and Jim, and to all the extended family members; and I pray that God will comfort you and give you peace. With great regret, I will be unable to return to TN for the services, but will be with you in spirit.

Love,
Millie Black
