Tyler Cockerham Obituary

Tyler Braden Cockerham CHARLOTTE - Tyler Braden Cockerham, 17, died Saturday, December 26, 2015, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with leukemia. Tyler was born in Charlotte on July 4, 1998. He attended Charlotte Latin School from Kindergarten through 10th grade and was enrolled as a Junior at Myers Park High School. He was a proud member of the Charlotte Latin Wrestling team and the US Navy Sea Cadets Corps. Tyler loved the sea, anything above or below, and was an avid fisherman, scuba diver and proficient sailor. Spending the summers in the Caribbean, Tyler received his master scuba diver certification at age 16. Knowing his dream to become a Navy diver, on December 10, a special ceremony was held to induct Tyler as an Honorary Enlistee in the United States Navy. Family and friends remember Tyler most for his pranks, dry humor, determination and thoughtfulness toward others. He is survived by his parents Tim and Debbie Cockerham, brother Brett, sister Nicole, paternal grandparents Bob and Ruth Cockerham, maternal grandfather Frank Washburn, aunts and uncles Bobby Cockerham and his wife Carol, Terri Cockerham and her husband, Lou Clendaniel and cousins, Tripp Cockerham and his wife, Traci and Betsy Cockerham. Tyler was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Lyda Washburn. A funeral service celebrating Tyler's life will be held Wednesday, December 30 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 301 S. Davidson St., Charlotte, NC 28202. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. The burial will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the KEEP POUNDING Fund or Levine Children's Hospital - The Torrence E. Hemby Pediatric Hematology Oncology and BMT Center c/o Carolinas HealthCare Foundation, 208 East Blvd. Charlotte, NC 28203, (704)355-4048. Arrangements are in the care of Kenneth W. Debbie, my heart breaks for you and your family. I have no words to comfort you but there's an old song written by Ira Stanphill, that pops into my head at this time of year and seems to be appropriate in this moment. "Many things about tomorrow I don't seem to understand. But I know who holds tomorrow and I know who holds my hand" . Trust in the Lord for strength. I love you and will continue to pray for you all.

May God Comfort the family in this their time of sorry and grief. Knowing the loss of someone so young and so much ambition and vigor seems that God does not really care but I feel, in some way, either in our earthly or our heavenly life, we will understand why things happen as they do. God bless and comfort each of Tyler's family and all his many friends.

Sincere Condolences To The Cockerham Family,
The death of a loved one is one of the most devastating experiences a human can face. At times, the loss may seem unbearable. Mourn and grieve as you must, and do not be afraid to cry, because crying serve as an emotional release. "For everything there is an appointed time, even...a time to weep."
Ecclesiastes 3:1,4.
With Comfort and Kindness,
