Not sure what to say?

As we prepare to commemorate Memorial and Remembrance Day 2023, I once again call to mind our friendship and the great admiration I had for you as one of the heroic survivors of the Battle of Iwo Jima. May you now rest in peace, free from all harm, and rewarded by God for your service and the life you led before, during and after WWII. Amen and Semper Fidelis, my Brother Marine.

I just watched the YouTube interview, which brought tears to my eyes? A shining example of what was great about this country. Semper Fidelis, sir

Dear Sir,
Like many of those that have posted, I saw your interview on Youtube and hoped to learn more about your amazing life (hoping, actually that you had authored a book which I could add to my library).

I can't begin to offer you the amount of gratitude that I wish for you and the heroes that you served with.

It is my sincere wish that you rest in eternal peace.

Our Greatest Generation, God Bless You and Thank You for your Service! JZ from NJ

To Mrs. Russell and family:

I just learned of Mr. Russell from an interview his grandson, I believe, posted on YouTube recorded 10 years ago. I hoped to find him still alive, to write, but alas, I am too late.

To all of you, Mr. Russell was a good man, a thoughtful man, and a valiant man. He reflected all that is best about this country. I wish I could have told him this. I am telling you.

Sincerely,

Daniel Underwood

My deepest sympathy on the passing of Mr. Russell. From all I read about him, he really was the image of a proud US Marine, and a hero.
