Vaughn Russell Obituary
AGE: 90 • Seaford, DE
Vaughn B. Russell, age 90, of Seaford, DE passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2015. Vaughn owned and operated Russel's Auto Store in Seaford for many years before retiring in 1993. He was a WW II veteran of the marines and fought in Iwo Jima, Guam and Saipan. He received a Presidential Citation. He was a member of Hiram Lodge #21 in Seaford, the local Amateur Radio Club, Sons of America Revolution, the NRA, the VFW in Seaford, the American Legion in Seaford, the Marine Corp League (Devil Dogs) in Seaford.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Helen Smith Russell, son Barry Brumbley and his wife Ann, daughter Karen Coughlin and husband, Greg, his sister, Marilee Bradley, 4 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson. Funeral Services will be on Monday, April 4th at Noon at the Cranston Funeral Home, 300 N. Shipley St, Seaford, where friends may call from 11 to 12. Burial will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro, DE.

To Mrs. Russell and family:
I just learned of Mr. Russell from an interview his grandson, I believe, posted on YouTube recorded 10 years ago. I hoped to find him still alive, to write, but alas, I am too late.
To all of you, Mr. Russell was a good man, a thoughtful man, and a valiant man. He reflected all that is best about this country. I wish I could have told him this. I am telling you.

Vaughn was one of the great Americans who loved his country and his family. He was a very good friend of my father and when they were together they could tell some great stories. As a young boy back in the 50's, I can remember enjoying vacations in Fenwick Island with the Russell family. Thanks for the great memories -- rest in peace.
