Vincent Daddi Obituary

Vincent Anthony Daddi Jr.
04//16/1939-09/28/2021
Vincent A. Daddi Jr. (Vin/Vinny/Dad/Papa), 82, Plantsville/Southington Connecticut, beloved widower of the late Linda (Agostini) Daddi, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at Bristol Hospital. Born on April 16, 1939 in Hamden, CT, Vincent was the son of the late Vincent and Celeste (Savo) Daddi. Vincent entered the military after leaving high school, proudly serving his country as a member of the United States Air Force. Afterwards, he began a 20+ year career at the Sargent Lock Company of New Haven, eventually retiring as the Data Center Manager. In his leisure time, Vinny was a master wood worker and artist who excelled in stained glass and the art of Intarsia wood working with many stunning pieces displayed throughout his home. Vinny also created many playful wooden toys which he proudly donated to every child he could. His meticulous attention to details is evident in all his work, including the realistic working model ships and wooden remote-controlled airplanes that he would build and launch. Vinny was very mechanical and in his younger days would race informal competitions around town in his own modified cars. He loved to take ocean cruises with his wife Linda where he enjoyed playing poker and blackjack. Vinny was an avid fan of the New York Giants, New York Mets and UCONN Women's basketball, and had an affection for dogs especially his Labrador Retriever Sheba. Vinny was passionate about movies, especially musicals, which he often could be found watching from his favorite recliner. He was also well known for being a "Mr. fix-it man", coming up with the most ingenious, simplistic, and frugal solutions for the most complex of problems. Vinny was a survivor who lived on his own terms and refused to surrender to any of his ailments. He aged with dignity as independently as possible, with his family, friends, and neighbors always willing to lend a hand. Vincent is survived by his three sons, Christopher and his wife Kimberly of Cheshire, Mark and his wife Cheryl of Pittsburgh, and Richard and his fiancé Stephanie of Texas. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Lauren, Kristen, Anthony, Christopher, Ryan, Matthew, Amelia, and Samantha. Vincent is also survived by his sister Audrey Piccerillo of East Haven. He was predeceased by one brother, Richard. A funeral home service for Vincent will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 10:00 AM in the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 North Main St. Southington, CT 06489. Burial will follow in Beaverdale Memorial Park in New Haven. Calling hours will be on Friday, October 8, 2021 from 4 - 7 PM at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, immediately followed by a brief memorial service.
