Dear Vinny...Today marks Remembrance Year Number Eight...so I was expecting to attend the noon mass...that was being offered in your memory...but somehow the best of my intentions... managed to get away from me.

I just want you to know...that you are not forgotten...and I pray that you are resting peacefully...along with Sal and Rich...and that each of you... are also in the company...of other family members...who have also been... called back home to God.

Dear Vinny...I was out of town on your special day...and have been meaning to write on your site...ever since I got back...but somehow time has gotten away from me...and it is now Tuesday evening...Nov. 17th...so I thought better late than never...and before any more time passes...I hope you had a very blessed...and...happy milestone birthday...in the company of your father...your extended family...and your friends...in that better place...where each of you...is now resting peacefully...in God's perpetual light.

Keep watching over your Mom...your brother...and his family...and know that you are loved...missed...and prayed for...by them.

God bless you with an abundance of His grace...on this your 50th Birthday.

You remain in my prayers...along with...Sal...and...Richard. You are not forgotten.

Dear Vinny...I was going to join your Mom...at St. Mike's noon mass...since today is your 49th Birthday...but an unexpected phone call...negated my best intention...so instead...I prayed for you...at the Saint Joseph statue.

You are remembered...by my family... and always...in the most positive light...so I guess it's true...that God calls first...only the very best of us.

Keep watching over your parents...and your brother's family. They love you ...and they miss you...as they think of you...each and every day.

Rest peacefully...knowing that you are not forgotten.

May God bless you...and your very special day.

Mrs. C

April 19, 2014

Dear Vinny…I would have been...at mass this morning…on this Sixth Year Day of Remembrance…and offering my communion for your intention…but because this date…fell on Holy Saturday…when daytime masses are never said…I have instead...visited the St. Joseph statue…and prayed for you there.

I know how the very special days…are all the more difficult for both your parents…so watch over them…as well as your brother…and his family. They all love and miss you…so very much.

On this eve of Easter Sunday…may You...my Sal...and Richard...be especially blessed by God...as each of you Rests...in the Peace of His Perpetual Light.

You are not forgotten.

Mrs. C

November 10, 2013

Dear Vinny...This morning...at today's 10:30 mass...we sat behind your parents...your brother...your sister-in-law...your two nephews...and...your niece. They were all there...in your honor...and in remembrance...of this special day...marking your 48th Birthday.

I pray that you are having...a Blessed Birthday...in the company of your family members...and friends...who are also with you...enjoying the peace... of that far better place.

Keep close watch...over your loved ones...and know that...they in return...hold you close...in their thoughts...and in their memories. You are very loved...and so very missed... by each of them.

God bless you Vin...you are always prayed for...along with Sal and Richard...and...You will never be forgotten.

Dear Vinny...This is a day late...but you weren't forgotten in my Christmas Day prayers...as I wished you...along with my Salvatore...and...Richard...A Very Blessed Christmas.

I hope each of you..."Uncles"...are watching over...your nephews...and nieces...who would have benefitted so much...from having you...in their lives. Keep them safe.

Mrs. C

November 11, 2012

Dear Vinny...I attended the noon mass that was offered for you today...in memory of your Birthday. I know this is one day late…but due to the All Souls Novena...the mass couldn't be scheduled until now.

Your brother and his family...brought the offertory gifts up to the altar... and your nephews and niece are getting so big. It is remarkable…how much the oldest one…looks like you. I am told he also has many of your ways...so he must be a really nice young man.

You remain in my prayers...along with Sal and Richard...and I hope that each of you...is resting peacefully...in God's perpetual light.

God Bless You Vinny...as you keep watch over your family...who love and miss you...each and every day.

Belated...Blessed Birthday. You are not forgotten.

Mrs. C

April 19, 2012

Dear Vinny...Although we weren't able to attend...this morning's Fourth Year Remembrance Day Mass...for the repose of your soul...we were there in spirit thinking of you...and praying for you.

May You Rest Peacefully...knowing that you are not forgotten.

God Bless You...as you watch over your family...who miss and love you dearly.

Mrs. C

March 18, 2012

Dear Vinny...Today...the statue of...St. Joseph and the Boy Jesus...which sits in the front…of St. Michael's Church…and is in honor of...Monsignor Thomas Patrick Scannell...and that was donated…in your memory...as well as in the memory…of…Sal...and Richard…has finally…and formally…been dedicated and blessed…by our current pastor…Father Pokorsky.

Your parents…your brother…sister-in-law…and your two nephews…and niece…were there. It is truly amazing...how much...your eldest nephew...Nick... looks like you...and I understand...he even has your temperament. Lucky him. The other two children...are also a joy. Watch over all of them.

Additionally...there were many family friends…and other parishioners...in attendance. Father Pokorsky…our current pastor…officiated…and it was a fitting time frame…nestled between…St. Patrick's and St. Joseph's Day. Patrick is Father Scannell's middle name…and tomorrow is the…75th Year Anniversary of his ordination.

Vin…you are thought about each day…not only by your family…but by me too. I never think of Sal…without thinking of…Richard…and…You. I hope each of you…in spirit…has found one another…in that better place…and is happy…and at peace…in each other's company.

You are loved…you are missed…and…you are not forgotten.

Each of you…young men…holds a special place…in my heart…in my memories…and in my prayers.

May God Bless you…as you keep close watch...over your family.

Mrs. C

November 10, 2011

Dearest Vinny...The masses offered today...were a part of...the All Souls Novena...that began on Nov. 2...but since today...is also your birthday... I attended mass...in your memory and honor...and each day...you are also remembered...in my prayers...along with Sal...and...Richard.

So...on your special day...I pray...you are having...a blessed birthday...as you rest peacefully...in God's perpetual light.

You are not forgotten.

Mrs. C

April 20, 2010

Dear Vinny...Yesterday...Monday, April 19th...marked the Second Year Remembrance...of the day...that you...were called back home...by God.

Your parents...were unable...to attend the mass...that was being offered...in your memory...because...the loss of your Grandfather...caused them to be away...on this already sad weekend. The Soares' and Mr. C and I...did attend...and offered our prayers...and received communion...in your behalf.

Vinny...I think back...to the days...when...You...my Sal...and...Richard...were just carefree boys...happily having fun...while kicking around a soccer ball...and I hope...that now...as young men...you are still...with each other...enjoying the good times...and laughter.

During your illness...you admirably fought the good fight…showing patience…acceptance…and…courage…as you always tried…to spare...those who love you...their heartache...at knowing...how much you were tolerating...in the hope of...winning your battle...while gaining...useful information...that could also... benefit others…in the future.

You were always...that good boy... polite...and very considerate of others...and you grew into...a fine young man...who was still...through it all…continuing to think of others.

God bless you...for your brave spirit...and kind and generous heart.

Watch over all those you love...as they carry you...in their hearts...their thoughts...and their memories. They miss you immeasurably.

You...are always...in my daily prayers...along with my Sal...and Richard. None of you...dear...and very loved young men...will ever be forgotten...by those of us...whose lives...you have touched.

Rest in Peace...

Mrs. C

November 10, 2009

Dear Vinny...Remembering you...in a special way today...because it is your Birthday.

I pray...that you...are resting in peace...in God's perpetual light.

You are very loved...you are very missed...and...you are not forgotten.

God Bless you.

Anita...Sal...and...Family

April 19, 2009

Dearest Vinny...Today...in addition to being...Divine Mercy Sunday...we also marked…the First Year Remembrance...of your loss…by attending…along with your family…and some other dear friends…the noon mass…at St. Michael’s…that was being offered...in your memory.

May all of your family...your wife... Karen...your Mom and Dad...your brother…Charlie...and his family...take comfort...in knowing that...you are not forgotten...nor will you ever be…by those of us...who watched you grow…from a boy...to a young man... and you will always...be remembered…as the loving…quiet…easy-going…kind-hearted…and…decent human being…you were…and continue to be…in that far better place.

May God's Perpetual Light shine upon your soul...as you Rest in His Eternal Peace.

God's blessings on your family…as they hold you...close…in their hearts…thoughts...and…memories.

Keep watch...over all of them...they love...and...miss you...beyond words.

With Our Prayers,

David Providenti

I am very late to this, but you all have been on my mind these last few weeks. I may not have seen Vinny for 20 years or more, but our many many childhood days together playing in the neighborhood & in your basement will always be a part of me. May you find strength in each other all of us who stand with you. (This fall I'll be running a half marathon with Team in Training, to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and I will think of you all with every step.)

May 25, 2008

I send my condolences, but this message is probably very different from any others. I did not know Vincent Puritano. I don't know why I read the obituary in the Post, but somehow it attracted my attention. When I read it I was stunned by the similarities between what happened to him and what has happened to me.

I was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia in 1997. I subsequently had two rounds of chemo and in 2004 had a bone marrow transplant at the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Hopkins. My younger brother was my donor. That transplant failed - I rejected it. I subsequently also developed non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. I had more chemotherapy and then had tandem (dual) stem cell transplants at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance/Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle. The first was an autologous transplant (my cells) and the second was a second (after Hopkins) mini-allogeneic transplant with my sister as the donor. Those were in November of 2005 and January of 2006.

I am currently cancer-free but am still on a number of medications and dealing with graft versus host disease.

So, the similarities in our cancer histories really struck me. I would be interested to learn more about Vincent's situation (e.g., why did you go to the Hutch for the second transplant?) but realize you may not be in an emotional state to communicate about it. You probably can appreciate that I do not like to see stories like Vincent's.

Again, I want to express my sympathies.

Dear Peggy & Vince,
I was deeply saddened when my father called and informed of Vinny’s passing. As a friend and next door neighbor these many years I share your loss in a small way, but my admiration of the strength, perseverance and compassion of all your family over the last year or more is very great. I am humbled by your struggle. Vinny would have made W. B. Yates proud. I will hope you find grace as you go through this time, but, of course, I know that you will.

Dear Peggy and Vince...We wish you didn't have to...revisit...this kind of loss...and our hearts go out to you.

When we think of Vinny...we remember a good boy...and as he matured...he became a terrific young man...he was easy going...soft spoken...pleasant...and caring...like his Mom...and he had his Dad's...wry sense of humor.

We will always remember Vinny very lovingly.

As parents...we know how heartbreaking it was...for you to watch how acceptingly...Vinny faced his illness...and although we know...he is now at peace...there really are no words of comfort...to offer...or words to help us understand...why this had to happen.

We can only keep the faith...and trust in God's promise...and hope... that someday...we all will be reunited again...and so we pray for our very loved sons...until that someday.

We will keep Vinny...and your family in our prayers.

With Our Love... Prayers...Understanding...and Deepest Sympathy,

Anita & Sal Culosi

April 21, 2008

Dear Karen...What can be said...Vinny was always good natured...a sweetheart...and as a devoted and caring wife...you took good care of him...you loved him...and you honored him...you were his nurse...and his advocate...your commitment...to your wedding vows... is a testimony...to the graces bestowed...in the sacrament of marriage.

May God bless you...for all your selfless acts...while assisting in Vinny's care...over these past few years.

He is finally at peace...in that far better place...and now...he will watch over you.

Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord...may the perpetual light shine upon him...may his soul...and all the souls of the faithful departed...through the mercy of God...rest in peace. Amen

God bless you both.

With Our Prayers...
