I met Viviane Ohayon in 1964. I was a Freshman at NYU. As a French professor, she never awarded me more than a B+. She was honest! As a person, she was the most supportive, personable, kind, natural, unpretentious and inspiring teacher I ever had. Perhaps she was sensitive to the pain and confusion I felt having so recently lost my father; perhaps she saw a light in me I had not yet seen.
