Vonda McIntyre was an award-winning science-fiction author most widely known for her Star Trek novels, including novelizations of the movies "The Wrath of Khan," "The Search for Spock" and "The Voyage Home." So sad to hear of Vonda's passing....my father died of pancreatic too. I met her many years ago when I was assigned to photograph her for Pacific Northwest Magazine. When I arrived at her home, I could tell she was a bit hesitant to have her portrait taken. I tried a few locations, and then asked her, "Sit here by your picture window and think about your writing." What I captured that moment was one of my best portraits; when she saw it published, she agreed, and we became friends. She...
