W.E. Chaney Obituary

MIDLAND W.E. (Bill) Chaney, 89, of San Angelo, Texas, passed away Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014. W.E. was born Feb. 25, 1924, in Garden City, Texas. He graduated from Garden City High School. W.E. married Dorothy Childers on Feb. 9, 1945, and they were married for 56 years. He was a lifetime member of the Garden City Methodist Church. W.E. owned and operated Russco Chemical from 1960 to 1974. He was president of the West Texas Quarter Horse Association in 1985, and became an American Quarter Horse Association Director in 1989. W.E. is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy. He is survived by his sons, Fred Chaney and his wife, Claudia and grandson Evan and his wife, Vicki; son Sam Chaney; and grandson Christopher. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the American Quarter Horse Association Scholarship Fund. American Quarter Horse foundation, P.O. Box 32111, Amarillo, TX, 79120-9971. Please designate for scholarship. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, in Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home, 801 Andrews Hwy, Midland, Texas 79701.
