Rev. & Dr. Bowie will always be a positive part of our memory. Rev. Bowie was a great encourager and a great man of God. He taught the true unabated Word of God and has left a legacy - The Koinonia Baptist Church. God used him in many ways to educate and save souls. I know he's still rejoicing "behind the purple hills...".

I still remember Rev Walter Bowie as a generous man who treated me as his own son while studying at RTS - Jackson.

This was first preacher I felt that was really concerned about the youth and his community very genuine man. In my view there will never be another preacher close to his accomplishments. God bless the Bowie family.

Dearest Miz Bowie,
I just heard about Rev's passing only two days ago, and I express to you and your family my deepest and most sincere condolences. Rev's faithfulness to God manifested itself in his love for us SIU students of the 1970s; he truly changed my life, all for the good.
I will keep you all in prayer during this period of bereavement. Miz Bowie, thank you for the privilege of your husband's friendship to and influence on me. May...

Dear Gerri,
I was so sorry to learn of the passing of Rev. Bowie, I have fond memories of him when we were young and growing up in the Illinois State Convention.
I also remember how fond my parents(Hewitt & Doris Hudson) were of both of you.
Finally, I will never forget his words of encouragement when my Mom made her transition from this life on earth.
God bless you and the children.
Remember "Weeping may endure for a night, but Joy is coming in the morning"

I first met Rev. Bowie in July 2005. I was a freshman at the Reformed Theological Seminary Jackson, Mississippi and barely a week in the USA. A friend from the seminary was invited by Rev. Bowie to preach at Koinonia Baptist Church, and he asked me if I could accompany him and I gladly obliged. After the service, I visited with the reverend, and when he learnt that I was a theological student so far away from home in Africa, he took a very keen and pastoral interest in me.
