In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

The most I will miss about my grandfather is him not being able to see me graduate nursing school. I remember when I was about 8 years old he told me that when I grew up that I would have a career helping people. Today I am two years from graduating with my bachelor's of science in nursing. I know my grandfather would be so proud of me and would have loved to see his prophecy come true. However I know he will still see it from heaven.

Jay,
I am sorry I never got to meet your father he sounds like a special person.

Millie: Sorry for your loss. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. Jim O'Keefe 70'

I had the honor of being involved in a couple productions with Walt for Tucson Parks and Recreation Community Theater and I came to love and admire his warm and giving spirit so much over the years and his desire to always try new things no matter how old you are. He will always be in my heart. I know next Christmas the angels will be enthralled by his telling of "Twas The Night Before Christmas." God bless you, Walt.

Millie, you may not remember me, but we were at Salpointe together. I am sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

"Uncle Walt" was a very special friend of mine for many years at Los Ranchitos Elementary School. I have fond memories of him sharing stories with my first grade students and making them laugh. He was kind, helpful and truly dedicated to the school library profession. Walt was instrumental in encouraging me to go into library service in the late 1980s. For that, I'll be forever grateful.

Walt rarely forgot to send a birthday card. He loved to share his activities such as riding...
