Not sure what to say?

Uncle Walt was the kindest most sincere man I´ve ever known. Always fun to talk to and always encouraging in speech. He and Aunt Lynne had a marriage most would be envious of. Always smiling, helpful and kind. I spent the part of a summer at their ranch and learned how to make sourdough bread. Thank God for the couple of reunions we were able to have. To my cousins Robby, Walt and Alfred you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I´m so sorry for your loss. He was a gentle man who served his community well . I met him as a parent of my student and as a school board member. We need more folks like Mr. Henrs.

What a LIFE! The passing of a great man though sad brings gratitude and inspiration Thank you Walt and all of the Henes family for your invaluable contributions to our community.

Roberta and Wally, I am so sorry for your loss.

I met Walt shortly after moving to Cortez and I needed hay seed. I went to SW Seeds just as they were closing and we started a conversation that lasted over two hours....and years. Walt was interested in many topics, so we were never wanting for subject matter. I also loved Walt's wry sense of humor, the accompanying smile of his and his many contributions to Cortez. I miss a friend, and Cortez misses a citizen par excellence. Bill Southworth

I have such fond memories of Uncle Walt, mostly from our scattered family reunions; but also visiting the Colorado farm that was so far from anywhere when I was younger. In all of my memories, he was smiling, laughing, kind and telling stories. I will miss his Christmas cards, as that´s been our only connection for many years. Rest in peace, Uncle Walt; and to my cousins and their families, you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I met Mr. Walter Henes for the first time in the summer of 1993 when I interviewed for the job of superintendent of CSU's Southwestern Colorado Research Center in Yellow Jacket. He was on the advisory committee of the research center and served in that capacity for several more years. He was a remarkable man: smart, witty, knowledgeable, and a pillar of the community. I enjoyed interacting with him as my advisor and mentor. I also regarded him as a role model and a friend. I will miss him....

Uncle Walt will clearly be missed by all who loved him. What an extraordinary life he led! I will always remember how kind he and Aunt Lynne were whenever we were able to see them. My sincerest condolences to his family.
