I miss you Walter. I think of you very often.......your Schnuckleburger......

I only just found out about Walter's death and I am deeply saddened....but truly enriched for knowing this wonderful man. He hired me out of university for a job at Gallery Moos and it was the most educational and crazy and wonderful job I ever had....thank you, Walter, for taking me under your wing. Since then, Walter has been a mentor for my Art career - in teaching and running a gallery myself - and I owe a great deal to his wisdom, humour and caring. I will miss seeing you on my...

Correction...the police officer stood at attention and saluted as Walter entered the cemetary!

I don't think many people noticed this but as Walter entered the cemetary the lead police office (there were three in total) stood straight at attention and held it for a long long time...really straight...not one of Walter's pinky finger salutes....I went up to a policeman after and asked about it...He said that is reserved for a very important person or a head of State....I said how about "Head of State of the art"..he said absolutely....and just so you know right over the hill from where...

Many times I was with Walter at an International Art Show in New York and as soon as a major art dealer,especially a dealer from Europe,caught site of Walter,even if they were in mid-conversation with someone else they would immediately stop what they were doing to come over and greet him....I wish he had stayed up in Yorkville where he started and was appreciated for what he did in the arts instead of moving to that remote outpost in Siberia guarded with only one sentry the incredibly loyal...

Good bye old friend. Some kook once said "you got the friends you deserve"

So many wonderful memories - Walter, Martha , Michel and David in Long Island - Art Exhibitions opening and closing -new paintings unveiled -book publishing-it goes on ... Walter and Ken intertwined business and a great friendship with respect and ease. A friendship like this will go on forever ---
