Wanda Long Obituary

Wanda Lee Adkisson Long, 92, of Elizabethtown, died Monday, May 10, 2021, at her residence.

She was a native of Louisville and a member of Ridge Springs United Methodist Church and Grayson County Center for Women's Ministry. She was a nurse at Norton Hospital for 35 years, having began her nursing career at the age of 42.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Winstead Long Sr.; her parents, Henry and Alberta Adkisson; two children, Charles Wayne Long and Robert Long; a son-in-law, Bill Gage; and three grandchildren, Joshua Brian Long, James Alex Long Jr. and Chardasia Nicole Long.

Survivors include six children, Earl Winston Long Jr. (Sharon) of Rochester Hills, Michigan, Johnnie Long (Cecilia) of Elizabethtown, Donald Long (Teresa) of Corydon, Indiana, James Long (Deana) of Seymour, Indiana, Lonnie Long (Dana) of Bellevalle, Illinois, and Tamara Gage of Belleville, Michigan; a daughter-in-law, Charlotte Long of Elizabethtown; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service is at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 12, at Ridge Springs Cemetery.

Wanda was a sweet soul with such Love and concern for everyone she meet. She was a fierce prayer warrior and will forever be loved by so many. She will be surely missed.
