Warren Heckrotte

I grew up with Warren's daughters. Warren could be a bit aloof if you were a kid, but I always found him and his work fascinating. As I grew up and became an adult, it was much easier to communicate with him. I spent a number of Christmas eves at his house or Maggies, always great food and great conversation. Sorry to learn of his death. He and some of his Livermore colleagues used to come to my sister's (Toni Joseph's) home near Chevy Chase, MD, when he was in the DC area on business. I recall one summer in Geneva in the late 1960s when he and my sister were in Switzerland working on the NPT. We were there during the Fete de Geneve when everyone was bonking others with "knowledge hammers" (soft, large plastic hammers). Deeply sorry to learn about Warrens death. I met him in the 80s and always thought and will think of him with great warmth, love and admiration. He was truly special, not only his steep garage drive.
