Not sure what to say?

Wasef was a very close friend and mentor for me for a long time. We were college roommates for years. We were also soulmates for a long time! I was his sounding board as he wrote his doctoral thesis, as he did his first class teaching of the American government course in the summer school at the University of Cincinnati. I was in attendance when he engaged his beloved Lea, God bless her sole. Afterwords that same morning I still remember, we had breakfast at Lea's family home. I was with...

Wasif was a great teacher and advisor for me. I miss him very much and I miss his charming & beautiful wife Lea. I send my deep and very sad memory greetings to his son Shareef and daughter Jenine. I wish his family all the very best as they cherish his & their mothers great memories. We love them all!

Dr. Abboushi was my favorite and the best professor at the University of Cincinnati. I learned so much about Middle Eastern politics and history from his passionate, informative lectures. I worked harder in his classes and learned more, than from any other at UC. He became a friend to my dear friend, Amy and I, outside of class as well. I remember fondly Amy and I meeting him at a local establishment shortly after returning from a semester at the Sorbonne. Dr. Abboushi encouraged us to...

Dr. Abboushi was a great mentor and teacher. He guided my graduate studies in Middle East politics with commitment and a good dose of humor. I will always remember interviewing with him for the graduate program. I said I wanted to study Middle East politics with him. He gave me, a blond midwesterner with an aura of naiveté, a long look and joked "they are going to love you in Lebanon." Then he took me under his tutelage. Thank you Dr. Abboushi.

My condolences to his family. He loved life. He traveled all over the world has a good life. Was generous man good poltiticion .

On behalf of the Department of Political Science, as Dept Head, allow me to send my condolences to the family of Wasif. On a personal note, Wasif was a terrific colleague who welcomed me into the department in 1991 and challenged me to think critically and seek to inspire students, which he did with grace and consistency. A terrific scholar-teacher that we will miss.

I am so sorry for your loss of Wasif, may God comfort you during this time of sorrow. 1John 5:19.
Sincerely,
Debbie Tokich
