Wilbert C. Wilks

I was privileged to serve with the incomparable CSM Wilbert Wilks when I commanded the Washington, DC Army Recruiting Company and he was my First Sergeant and he was an inspiration, a mentor, and a font of wisdom and brilliant little metaphors, stories and creative analogies. My favorite was, "sometimes I feel like a horse in a coral surrounded by goats." My deepest sympathy goes out to the family. He was a true friend all 11 years. I was blessed by god to know this great man.

My life was much richer because Rev. Wilkes was my friend. I spoke with him many times through our work relationship with Dunbar and Harper Funeral Homes and the prison system. I cherished his friendship.
