Not sure what to say?

Susan, So sorry to learn of your father´s passing. I remember trick or treating as a child and your parents always invited me in and wanted to talk. I always enjoyed the conversation. I ran into him at the Lowry House a number of years ago and he was excited to catch up. Condolences on your loss!

Bill and Janet lived behind my Mom & Dad. One night my Mom wanted to play bingo but my Dad didn't want to go. So Bill took my Mom and several hours later they arrived at our back door with a friend - a live turkey on a rope that my Mom had won. He came to our house in Bill's trunk. Bill and Janet were the best neighbors ever!
