Dr. William Sadler Bonds

I deeply regret that I am 24 years late in reading this obituary. Bill was my favorite professor. He was glamorous and striking in his classroom wit and skill. When I returned to Sewanee to finish my degree after my stint in the army, he was very welcoming (he immediately told me to drop the Dr. Bonds and just call him Bill, but maybe not in front of other students) and we quickly became friends. Many were the times that I dropped by his office to share a smoke and a chat between classes....
