William Calvin Bridges

I am sorry to learn of Calvin's passing but know he is in a better place. Enjoyed very much serving with him on Athens City Council for several years.He was a good man.

Mr. Bridges will surely be missed by many. He was a great neighbor to our family. When I asked my father, Jake Holcomb, how long they were neighbors he said "forever", but I think it was more like over 40 years. He and my father joined the Navy on the same day. They both took much pride in that service. My dad had 3 heart attacks and 2 strokes ... Mr. Bridges called and visited regularly. Just two months ago, Mr. and Mrs. Bridges stopped by to visit with him. Three weeks ago Mr. Bridges...

Athens will miss this good man. In many ways he reminds me of my father. Rejoice family in his memory and know he is happy in heaven waiting for his family and friends.

Calvin Bridges was a true American original and a tremendous Christian layman. As a businessman, member of the City Council, or active church member, he exemplefied the highest ideals of integrity, honesty, courtesy and respect. I am sure that his family, his church and his community will miss him greatly. He was a fine Christian, a good man, and a true friend.
