WILLIAM COMPTON Obituary

Feb. 27, 1957 - Sept. 17, 2015 OKLAHOMA William Richard "Rickey" Compton, age 58, slipped away on Sept. 17, 2015, at his home in OKC. Rick was born on Feb. 27, 1957, to Sue Carolyn Jones and William Atlas Compton. Growing up, his closest companions were his grandmother, Anna Mae Jones; and his sister, Vicki. In 1975, Rick joined the U.S. Marine Corps, where he was stationed in Italy for the majority of his military career. Throughout his life, Rick enjoyed spending time with his three children, including raising his perfect baby girl, Marley. In addition, he loved playing billiards, spending time with his surplus of friends, and being a talented golfer. In his later years, he fell madly in love with his grandchildren and spent his time doting on them. Rick was as hard a worker as there has ever been. He began his career as a heat and air contractor with his stepfather, Bill, owning Air Control Service Co, Inc. since 1984. Rickey worked up until his very last moments. Rick is survived by his stepfather, William Augustus Miller, of OKC; stepmother, Barbara Compton, of Mustang; daughter, Kali DeYager, of Edmond; son, Chip Compton, of OKC; daughter, Marley Compton, of OKC; sisters, Vicki Mihelich and Dana Miller, of OKC; brothers, David Miller, of OKC; Michael and Brian Compton, of Mustang; also, his three grandchildren, Aubri, Tripp, and Charli, of Edmond. Tragically, Rick was preceded in death, literally within minutes, by his newest granddaughter, Harper Dianne Compton, of OKC. He is so painfully missed already. Services to Celebrate his Life will be held Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Memorial Park Chapel & Cemetery, 13313 N. Kelley Avenue, OKC, OK 73131. Reception info to be announced at the service. Flowers can be sent to the Chapel through Morrison Floral Company, (405) 789-1622.

Condolences to Ricky's family. I went to Harding Jr Hi with you. You were very nice to me and I was looking forward to seeing you at our reunion. Your sister Vicki came and brought your spirit with her. What a shock to find out your no longer on earth with us. Your mission had been completed here.

I only learned of Rick's death when I called today to schedule by fall "checkup" on my heater and his number was "out of service". I have known Rick since he was very much younger and I worked at his Mom's school in OKC. She recommended their heat and air company to work on my unit. That was over 30 years ago, and during all that time Rick grew from apprentice to owner and from the service person to a friend. At least twice a year I would see him for the "checkups". Most recently in May. He even went all the way to El Reno to work on my father's unit when by Dad was in his 80's . My dad thought he was a "great young man" and I have to agree with him. My sincerest sympathy to all of his family, he often spoke of his children and grandchildren in the very best possible ways. He will be missed greatly by so many people whose lives he touched.

I cannot believe Ricky is not here. To lose a younger brother who champions you through life and problems and now nothing. I knew Ricky most my life, from Harding Jr. High to Northwest Classen. He was sweet, quiet, unassuming and ALWAYS a gentleman. I was in contact with him the last 8-10 months and he left me a voicemail in July. I still have it. A wonderful person, and for him to take care of his perfect baby gir! You will always be in my thoughts from friendships shared. Alfreda Doonkeen Woodward

I choose to celebrate your life. My memories of Rickey Compton was in my 6th grade class at Horace Mann. I transferred to this elementary school that year and Rickey was a shinning star in my class. So charming with a super gentle spirit even at a young age. Rickey wish I could have seen you at this upcoming reunion we are planning for October 2015. Guess we will have to wait to see you in heaven...until then rest in peace friend. Sherri
