WILLIAM EMERSON Obituary
on October 27, 2017. A graduate of Cal Tech and Berkeley, Bill was a tenured professor of Mathematics at NYU and Queens College. He will be remembered for his brilliance, kindness, dry wit and deep love for family and friends. He leaves his daughter Alissa and granddaughter Annabelle. Service Sunday, October 29th, 11:30am at "The Riverside," 76th Street and Amsterdam Avenue, NYC.

I took the first semester of a three semester sequence in Calculus with Professor Emerson in 1977 at Queens College. He was an excellent teacher of Differential Calculus and he had a wonderful sense of humor. I liked him immensely and he liked me. His brilliance was apparent in his manner of teaching. I will never forget him.

To the Emerson Family: My heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and friends during this difficult time. I hope that the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring comfort. Knowing that there's a hope for the ones we have lost in death can be so reassuring.
