William Ben Hart M.D.

Dr. Will Hart was born in Washington, D.C., raised in Upper Marlboro, MD, and became a long-time resident of New Orleans, LA. He passed away suddenly at his home Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at age 57. He attended Queen Anne High School and graduated in 1977 from Bishop McNamara High School in Maryland. After majoring in physiological psychology at LSU in Baton Rouge, he went on to study trauma/critical care at LSU Medical School in New Orleans, where he became an Associate Professor as well. An exceptional emergency room physician, he received the William Bradley award from Charity Hospital. Will loved to read, collect music, play golf, and spend time with his children. He is survived by his wife Michele Dufrene Hart; children, Brittany, Jordan, William Taylor, Marianna, and Emma Hart; granddaughter, Evelyn Hart Lambert; mother, Joan Potete Hart; sister, Elizabeth Hart Ishee; father and mother-in-law, Andrew and Shirley Dufrene; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father, William Eugene Hart, PhD; paternal grandparents, William F. and Frieda Hart; maternal grandparents, Ben and Jean Potete. There will be a visitation at Holy Family Catholic Church in Luling, LA on Saturday, January 7th beginning at 8:30 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am with Father John Perino.
