William Matson Obituary

William T. Matson Sr. of Des Plaines Services for William T. Matson Sr., will be held at 7 p.m. today, at Oehler Funeral Home, 555 Lee St., Des Plaines. Born March 18, 1945, in Chicago, he died Sunday, April 28, 2002, at Holy Family Hospital. Entombment will be private. Mr. Matson was a bartender. He was a member of the American Legion, Vietnam Veterans Administration and also served as an election judge. He is survived by his son, William Thomas Jr. (Drema) Matson of Des Plaines; daughter, Martha Matson of Des Plaines; grandchildren, Dale and Autumn; brothers, Peter Jr. (Carol) Matson of Des Plaines and John Matson of Chicago; and sister, Joan Metzger of Dolton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda (nee Wolter). Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until the time of services at 7 p.m. today, at the funeral home. Tommy and Linda, and family,

So sorry to hear about your Dad. Just saw it in the paper. Your Dad was a funny and crazy guy!!! My thoughts and prayers are with you now. I'll never forget drinking beer out of a glass boot with him! He was quite the entertainer when we were young like you are now. He always made me feel at ease. He was a good guy.

I will greatly miss Bill, who provided leadership in the Vietnam Veterans of America's Chapter 311 for more than a decade. But I will also miss Bill as a good man, and a good friend. Farewell, Bill.
