When I was in the DCT program in high school, I spent a day riding and learning about law enforcement with Sheriff William Swan. We ate lunch at the old Thomson Boarding House. I have been out of school for almost 40 years, but that is a day I will never forget. I developed a deep and abiding respect for William Swan. and he became a lifelong friend and mentor. Every time I saw him I would call him sheriff, and he would always insist I just call him William. He was a very good person and...

Arlene and I only knew William thru Young Memorial Church. William always talked and was very friendly, wonderful company in the pew behind us.
What the world losses in great people is heavens gain.

To Charlotte and family; we are so very sorry for your loss. Although I never met your father, of course Bill knew him well. He has left behind a great legacy that I know all of you will be proud of for the rest of your lives. Much love.

I worked with William for a number of years while I was employed by the District Attorney's office. I have never met a better man. I feel I am a better person for having known him. He was a very special person who I will never forget.
