To the family of William Swords,
I had the pleasure of working with Bill when we were called New York Telephone. He was such a wonderful and helpful person. He always tried to help find a solution to any question I had.
I remember when he brought his beautiful young blonde daughters in the office at Christmas time. He was so full of joy and I remember how proud he was of them. It was so nice to share that moment with him.
I will always have fond memories of such a wonderful man.
My sympathies are with you at this time.
Sincerely, Donna Caruso

Our family feels blessed to have had Bill Swords as our next door neighbor for the past twenty years. We have had the privilege of getting to know a wonderful man who was a devoted husband, proud father and grandfather and one of the finest people we have ever known. Bill would always greet us with a warm word and a friendly smile. He was the first person to offer a helping hand whenever and wherever it was needed. When our son, Ben was a little boy, he and his dad were struggling to carve his first Pinewood Derby car out of a block of wood. Bill came to the rescue, using his woodworking tools to help them carve their racing car. Ben went on to win the local and regional Cub Scout competition, thanks to Mr. Swords. Last night, Ben reminded us that in his senior year of high school, once again Mr. Swords helped him build a catapult for his physics’ project. Not to be left out, our daughter Veronica fondly remembers leaving for college with a wooden breakfast bar and four stools that Mr. Swords kindly assembled for her. Our family has such fond memories of seeing Bill throughout the day on his many walks with his beloved dogs, Erin, and in recent years, Rascal. Being a nocturnal family we often joke that each of us has had at least one sighting of Bill on his predawn walk as we were getting ready to go to sleep. Whether enjoying a pleasant conversation or seeking his wise counsel and advice, it was always comforting to know that Bill was right next door to us. We will truly miss our beloved neighbor and treasured friend, Bill Swords.

We only met one another a few times at the Short/Tierny gatherings but I thought you were a fine caring gentleman who appeared to love life and family. May you find peace and love in heaven and may your family have comfort in recalling the wonderful memories you shared together.Marie C. Lopez
