Angelus Funeral Home - San Antonio Obituary

William S. Toudouze was called home to our Lord on November 5, 2021 at the age of 89. William (Bill) was a lifelong San Antonio resident born on April 30, 1932 to parents Henry Mitchell Toudouze and Florence Sanders Toudouze.

Bill attended Central Catholic High School in San Antonio and continued his education at Saint Mary’s University in San Antonio where he earned a Bachelor of Business degree.

Bill achieved the rank of 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He served in Phong Tek Korea as a Liaison Officer between the Army and Air Force, where he headed up an early warning detachment alerting the Air Force to approaching enemy aircraft.

Upon return to the states, Bill met his beloved wife, Kathryn. They married on May 31, 1958.

Bill’s professional life was highlighted by his positions as Land Disposition Supervisor at the San Antonio Land Development Agency, his ownership and operation of Toudouze Construction Company and with the City of San Antonio, from which he retired in 1998.

Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He had a steadfast and unwavering love of Jesus which he shared with all. He instilled a love of God and a foundation in Catholic teaching in his children.

Bill had a special love of the Most Holy Rosary, a devotion that was validated by his personal mission, that being the teaching of its recitation and its power. Bill presented Rosaries as a gift to all, friends, family, acquaintances; travelers at the airport, people at the grocery or drug store; essentially, everyone.

Bill was a founding member of St. Matthew Catholic Church in San Antonio and remained a member until his passing. At St. Matthew he was involved in organizations including St. Matthew Church Council, Catholic Education, CYO sports (coaching baseball and soccer among other sports), ACTS, ALPHA, bible study, RCIA, and That Man is You. He served as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, as a Lay Instructor of the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine and was a member of the Order of Alhambra.

Bill served his community as President of the Urban Renewal Employees Association, Treasurer of the Texas Public Employees Association, Chairman of the Education Committee of the San Antonio City Employees Federal Credit Union, President of the Colonies North PTA and Director of Colonies North Lions Club.

Bill had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed the company of family and friends. He especially enjoyed tennis where he and Kathryn (Kathy) were fixtures on the Colonies North tennis courts. Bill had a short-lived interest in golf, where he tore up the course; literally.

Bill was preceded in death by his dear wife of 63 years; Kathryn Ormand Toudouze, his parents Florence Sanders Toudouze and Henry Mitchell Toudouze, his sister; Sister Jo Marie Toudouze C.D.P and his brothers, Anthony David Toudouze, Henry Mitchell Toudouze, Jr., Cecil Joseph Toudouze and Thomas Paul Toudouze.

Bill is survived by his children, Kathleen Toudouze, William S. Toudouze, Jr. (Lisa), Christopher O. Toudouze (Virginia) and Michelle Toudouze Smithson (Chad); his grandchildren, Christopher O. Toudouze, Jr., Katie Smithson, Sanders Toudouze, Patrick Toudouze and Aidan Smithson and numerous nieces and nephews.
