Xara QUILLIAN Obituary

Family-Placed Death Notice

QUILLIAN, Xara XARA TERRELL QUILLIAN November 22, 1931- October 9, 2012 One of Dunwoody's best-loved community members passed away Monday, October 8. Xara Terrell Quillian, affectionately known as Mickey, was born in Greenville, Georgia, in 1931. She grew up in Warrenton, Georgia, and graduated from Wesleyan College in Macon, where she met the love of her life, her late husband, Judge Kelley Quillian. Mickey lived in Dunwoody for over forty years. She was a early champion of the Dunwoody Homeowners Association, and an active member of the Dunwoody United Methodist Church and choir. She was an accomplished interior designer and played an important role in the restoration of the historic Spruill Farmhouse. Mickey contributed in many ways to the strong sense of community that defines Dunwoody today. Mickey was a proud mother of two daughters, Terrell Quillian Marshall and Sally Quillian Yates. She adored her three grandchildren, Kelley Malone Yates, 20; James Quillian Yates, 17; and Ashton Terrell Trumble, 19. The family welcomes friends to a memorial service at Dunwoody United Methodist Church on Friday, October 12, at 2:00pm.

I am so grieved to hear of my dear first cousin's passing. There were never two brothers who loved each other more devotedly than our two fathers. That same devotion was passed on to us. I had just had a wonderful telephone conversation with her. My thoughts and prayers go to each of the family. Much Love, Mary Terrell Mitchell

My dear first cousin Mickey was for some years like a big sister to me; in fact she used to call me "Little Brother." I regret that we were out of touch in recent years, and I especially regret her loss. I hope her wonderful daughters will send me a way to contact them so that I can do justice to my sympathy. My email is [email protected]. With love, Edward Doughtie

My thoughts are with you all, even though I haven't met all of you. I still remember that Mickey and Kelly let me ride around Warrenton the day before their wedding! I was about 8 or 10 years old! Love from Frances Terrell Doughtie Westbrook.

I am so saddened. I took care of Mickey during her rehabilitation at Emory, even when she went home for a little while. Beautiful lady inside and out. I just thought about Mickey last week. Sally thanks for giving me a chance to care for your mom, and you are in my prayers.

A beautiful write-up and picture of my beloved friend, Mickey. Like her mother, Miss Xara she was a lady in every way. I catered Miss Xara's 100th. birthday and wished the same for Mickey. Mickey lived almost 80 full years. Special love to her family.
