Yolanda Yvette Skipwith, 45, of Woodbridge, VA entered into eternal rest while in the company of family on Tuesday, February 9, 2016. She was preceded in death by her father, Cecil M. Sturdivant, Sr. and is survived by her mother, Rachel Talley Sturdivant.
At an early age she was baptized and joined Temple Gate RZUA Church, South Hill, Virginia. She was a graduate of Park View Senior High School and employed as a federal contractor for over 20 years, working until she became ill.
Yolanda leaves to cherish fond memories: her husband of 24 years, Ricky Skipwith; two children, Rickia and Christopher Skipwith; a stepson, Ra'Mir Skipwith; one grandchild, Kristian J. Skipwith; one brother, Cecil Sturdivant, Jr.; her mother-in-law, Annie Lee Skipwith; a brother-in-law, Darryl Skipwith; a sister-in-law, Tracey Skipwith; eight loving aunts, Ethel Edmonds (John), Agnes Annette Avery, Deborah Chavis (Glenn), Jocelyn Jiggetts, Gloria Hill, Daisy Wise, Brenda Bullock and Helen Talley; four caring uncles, Ellis Sturdivant, Andre Sturdivant, Earle Talley and Jerry Talley; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins-including Melissa Robinson and Dinette Avery; very special friends, whom she called sisters-Aileen Lewis, Anita Coleman aka "Worm," Lorna Morton, Tiffany Washington and other friends.
Viewing will be held on Sunday, February 14, 2016 from 12:00 noon until 5:00 pm and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. A wake will be from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm. on Sunday.
Celebration of Life will be held at 11 am Monday, February 15, 2016 at the RZUA Headquarters and Conference Center in LaCrosse, VA. Services are entrusted to the staff of the Oris P. Jones Funeral Establishment. The family asks for those attending the celebration to wear an item of green (which can be coordinated with black) to collectively take a stand against liver cancer.
May God comfort the family and friends at this time. Yolanda was a blessing to all who knew her. Six years and the memory is still alive.
