Ziva Bar-Navon Obituary

Ziva Bar-Navon

Rockledge, FL

Ziva Bar-Navon, 78, of Rockledge, beloved wife of Haim Bar-Navon and adored mother of three sons, Yoav, Boaz and Erez, passed away March 24, 2014.

Ziva was born July 23, 1935, and grew up in Ness Ziona, Israel. Ziva met her soulmate and love of her life, Haim, in 1955, and they were married in 1957. They moved from Israel to the U.S. in 1967, and lived first in Miami Beach and then moved to Brevard County, where they have lived for over 20 years.

Ziva dedicated her life to Jewish education. She earned a teaching degree, served as a teacher in the Israeli civil service, and taught elementary school in Israel. In Miami Beach, Ziva was a Hebrew teacher and an active member of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation. When she moved to Brevard County, she immersed herself into the Jewish community teaching Hebrew, preparing Jewish exhibitions and organizing Jewish programs. She received several awards and recognition for her service and dedication to the Jewish communities of Greater Miami and Brevard County.

Ziva is preceded in death by her parents Yoseph Gurevich and Shoshanah (Schneiderovich) Gurevich. Ziva's grandparents were one of the founding families of Ness Ziona.

Besides being survived by her loving husband, Haim, and her children, Yoav, Boaz, and Erez, Ziva is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Yuval and Ronit Gurevich of Rehovot, Israel, and their three children and their families; daughters-in-law Donna and Juyun; spiritual son Yosef-Chaim Lester and his wife Pessy Leah and their family; grandchildren Danielle, Michelle, Nathan, Jenna, Joshua, Sarah and Lilah; and great-grandchild Peyton.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at 4pm at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial, 5950 S US Highway 1, Rockledge, FL 32955. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Jewish Federation of Brevard, 210 E. Hibiscus Boulevard, Melbourne, FL 32901, Ph: 321-951-1836.

Dear Barnavon Family,
We were very sad to hear of Ziva's passing. We did not have the good fortune to meet her that many times, but do remember her as being a very kind and endearing person. We love Erez very much, and consider him very much a part of our family as well. Much love to you all, our sincerest thoughts, prayers and blessings from our family to yours.

Sincerely,
Kevin, Karen, Emmery and Addisen Headings
