SARAH MURPHY Obituary

Sarah Murphy, 97, of DeLand, Florida passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at Florida Hospital DeLand. She was born May 10, 1914 in Pelham, Georgia and moved to the DeLand area in 1940. She was a homemaker. She was a welder and built tugboats for the Navy at Olson Boat Works on Lake Beresford and also built gliders during World War II. Sarah retired from Volusia County School Board as a cafeteria worker at George Marks Elementary School. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce McColloch of Minot, North Dakota; and a son, Wayne Gregory of Orange City, Florida. She had six grandchildren, Steve and Stuart McColloch of Minot, and Shari
(Phil) Moore of Minot, Stacy McColloch of Burton, SC, Wayne Gregory of Orange City and Donald (Jen) Gregory of Loganville, GA; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, C. Albert Murphy in 1987 and son-in-law, Dallas McColloch in 2010. The funeral service will be held on Friday, Sept. 23rd at 11am at Allen-Summerhill Memorial Chapel in DeLand, with a visitation from 10-11am prior to the service. Interment will follow at Pinehurst Cemetery in DeLeon Springs. Online condolences may be made at allensummerhillfuneralhome.com

So sorry to see that your mom past away. She was a very good friend of my mothers (Anna Palmieri) My mother worked with your mother at George Marks. My mom died in 1997. You are in my thoughts and prayers
