Thomas Coughlin Obituary

ELYSBURG - Thomas J. Coughlin, 75, of 698 W. Center St., died Wednesday, Oct. 10, in his residence.

Born in Girardville on Jan. 30, 1932, he was a son of the late John and Kathryn (Murphy) Coughlin.

Mr. Coughlin had been a resident of Elysburg since 1999, and previously resided in Warminster.

He was a 1950 graduate of St. Joseph High School, Girardville.

On August 30, 1958, in St. Ignatius Church, Centralia, he married the late Philomene Devine, who preceded him in death on Nov. 17, 2001.

He served with the U.S. Army Infantry with Company A, 188th Airborne, from 1953 to 1955. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Parachutist Badge and Good Conduct Medal.

He was employed as a machinist for SPS Technology in Jenkintown.

He was of the Catholic faith.

Survivors include two sons, Thomas Coughlin and wife Cathy Dawn of Perkasie and Robert Coughlin and wife Kathy Ann of Blandon; five grandchildren, Sahra, Danny, Ryan, Patrick and Jillian; a sister, Mary Cheasty of Ocala, Fla.; a brother, Eugene "Gene" Coughlin of East Norristown, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Kathleen Robertson and Jacqueline Thompson.

COUGHLIN - Thomas J. Coughlin, 75, of 698 W. Center St., Elysburg. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Jay Serven officiating, at All Saints Cemetery, Bear Gap. At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ALS Association-Lou Gehrig's Disease, 27001 Agoura Road, Suite 150, Calabassas Hills, CA 91301-5104, in memory of his late wife, Philomene Coughlin.
