How could I ever forget George Dorko, especially around Christmas time. George would arrive in every classroom at the Northumberland County AVTS with his annual box of chocolate covered pretzels for all of us--teachers, administrators and staff. I taught with George for many years and shared his friendship with my Dad, Tom Kutz, a fellow Slovak from St, Marys. My Dad was proud to call George his friend. I have known George all my life and would chuckle when he entered my classroom at the end of the day with a petition for one of the local candidates who "needed my help" to get elected.
George was a kind and generous man, never too busy to help a student, friend or total stranger. He will be missed by all! I would see him often on the streets of the Polish Pocono's on his way up to see Gerri.
May he be doing the polka with the angels as I write.
Mary Lou (Kutz) Lebo former colleague and friend.

After perusing such a lengthy and diverse write-up there is a lot of catching up to do by me to match all of the accomplishments of the best uncle ever. While we know that that will never happen, I feel that striving to be more like the person that he was is the best that I can do. Goodbye Uncle Norge... it is a privilege to be your nephew and god son.

To the extended family, I am a 1982 Tech School graduate from Line Mountain, and as a carpentry student I had the privilege to work with "NORGE" on many different school projects. He firmly believed in giving everyone a second chance and was willing to lend a hand in any project that needed to be done. I did not know much about his background but always had respect for him as a teacher and after reading his obituary and learning he was one of those few remaining WWII veterans, I want to let the extended family know his lifelong caring example left an impression with many of his students. After 33 years I have not forgotten those good mentoring times while working with him on many different school construction projects while being a Vo-Tech student. I want to say Thank You for your service and dedication to your country and future generations. May the memories of his life of kindness and dedication live on with the extended family and all who knew him.

My Uncle Norge will always hold a special place in my heart. My sisters and I grew up in his home that he so graciously opened up to us when my grandparents passed away. He put up with 5 girls, and a brother in law (my daddy) and never complained about a thing! That alone saved him a spot in heaven! We have so many wonderful memories and stories of him that i will always cherish. As time went on we all grew up got married and moved out leaving him with my mom and dad. He looked forward to our family gatherings which was EVERY sunday for as long as i can remember and always played his harmonica for all our birthdays. As time went on I earned the title of his Chief Engineer for always leading the pack and taking control when he needed my help with medical stuff or personal decisions. I will be forever grateful for every minute I got to spend with him. Loved his war stories, football stories and everything about him. He was like my second dad and i was the only niece he would listen to during one of his slightly stubborn moments. Love you with all my heart Uncle Norge. Save me a spot in heaven and tell my dad I love him

Uncle Norge was a wonderful man. He never had a bad word to say about anyone. He was proud of his roots and his military service. He did not deserve to suffer and God knew that. Without a doubt, we know he is looking down on us. He will remain in our hearts forever. He was the best! I will always love you Uncle Norge!

Did not know Mr. Dorko personally, but knew his late brother John and his family. I do want to extend my sympathy to the family. Such a wonderful history of one of the "Greatest Generation." The contributions made by them has so enriched the world. It is always sad when one of them leaves us. May he rest in Peace.

Norge is throwback to a time when people respected one another and truly cared about for each other. He was one of our coaches on the Indians football team ('70 - '73) and did a great job in teaching on and off the field. RIP Norge.
