Colleen Renee Weatherly, 36, passed away at The William M. Dunlap Center for Caring (Hospice Home) on September 6, 2017 in Raleigh, NC.
Born in Richmond, Virginia, Colleen has lived in the Raleigh area since she was five.
She is survived by two grandparents, Margaret Weatherly and Richard Huopana; parents Christie Weatherly and Dan Weatherly; brothers Kyle and Connor Weatherly; aunts Patti Huopana, Diane Thomas, Donna (Julian) Gonzales, Tammy Weatherly and Deb Hubbard; uncle Stephen (Maureen) Smith; and cousins Leah Gonzales, Chelsea McBride, and Galen (Caroline) Smith. Colleen was preceded in death by her grandfather Lloyd Weatherly, grandmother Barbara Huopana, and cousin Sal Gonzales.
She also leaves behind a loving and caring group of friends, who were always there for her, especially throughout the difficulties of her illness.
Colleen will be remembered for many things. Foremost among them are her beautiful smile and uniquely contagious laugh, passion for music, strong will and support for causes she believed in, and devotion to her mother.
A private burial service will be held at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Hillsborough, NC. Her family and friends will also gather for a celebration of life. The time, date, and location will be shared once arrangements are complete.
Her family sincerely thanks some of Colleen's key health care providers: Dr. Susan G. Moore, Dr. Justin Wu and his caring staff, Dr. Joseph Neighbors, and Transitions Life Care. Many thanks too to Colleen's employer, Etix, which was incredibly supportive during her illness.
