Kenneth Utter Obituary

GRANVILLE SUMMIT, Pa. -- Kenneth J. Utter, 89, of Granville Summit, Pa. (LeRoy Township), passed away Friday evening, Nov. 23, 2018, at the Guthrie Troy Community Hospital.

Born in Hainesville on March 19, 1929, Kenneth James was a son of the late James Utter and Frances Drake. In younger years, Ken worked in New Jersey for many years as a heavy equipment operator. On June 12, 1970, he married the former Priscilla Blakeslee in Elkton, Md. Following retirement in 1992, the Utters made their home in LeRoy Township, where Ken continued to work part-time at his excavation business. Kenneth possessed a strong work ethic all his life. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially his occupation, hunting and just keeping busy. Tinkering was a talent that came naturally.

Kenny was a proud lifetime member and former chief of the Frankford Fire Company in Frankford. He was also a member of Branchville's Businessmen's Club and belonged to Engineers Union Local 825, Springfield.

Surviving is his beloved Priscilla, his wife of 48 years; children, Frances "Ann" (Thomas) Courtright, of Newton, and Kenneth Carl Utter, of Kingston, N.Y.; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great- grandchildren; three half-siblings, Janet (Pete) VanDaren, of Burns, Tenn., Rose Utter, of Gillett, Pa., and Carl (Arlene) Grover, of Rickman, Tenn.; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends and neighbors. Kenneth was predeceased by a half-brother, Myron Grover; two grandchildren, Kenneth Utter and Stacy Utter Gilbert; and his first wife, Olive Crawn.

The family will have a memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may consider a donation in Kenneth's name to the Frankford Township Fire Department. Please share memories and condolences at www.pepperfuneralhomes.com.
